Take on the Booroomba Rocks trail in Namadgi National Park
The Namadgi National Park is a 45 minute drive south of Canberra and offers tranquil bushland, breathtaking vistas and some rich Aboriginal history. If you visit during the week, you're more than likely to have this stunning spot all to yourself. The park plays an important ecological role, presenting diverse animal, bird and plant life.
Declared a national park in 1984, Booroomba Rocks offers stunning views over the nation's capital and across the Brindabella Ranges. Walking options range from a modest 2.5km trail to a more lengthy 10.5km trail linking up with the Australian Alps Walking Trail. The trail passes through magnificent tall forests and stunted snow gum woodlands.

Embrace the Lake Burley Griffin 'Bridge to Bridge' walk
Whether you're walking, cycling, kayaking or paddle boarding, exploring the vast breadth and beauty of Lake Burley Griffin is a must do item. The walking and cycling are excellent for an afternoon of exploration of the beautiful lush surroundings for visits to Canberra.
Jogging the 'Bridge to Bridge' around Lake Burfley Griffin is a favourite for local and visitors. The length is approximately 4.86km and is a magical run on a fine spring day. The route stretches from the flags on the Old Parliament House side to the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge and over the Kings Avenue Bridge.
For those looking to make a lunch stop, there are several spots with beautiful views over the lake. These include the Bookplate Cafe at the National Library, The Deck at Regatta Point and The Boathouse By The Lake for a more formal dining option.
Accommodation in Canberra within a close 5 minute walk to Lake Burley Griffin sits Crowne Plaza Canberra.

Embrace the Mount Ainslie lookout
Located in the north eastern suburbs of Canberra, with an elevation of 843 metres, Mount Ainslie provides excellent views over Red Hill and Black Mountain. You are also able to see many of Canberra's main attractions including ANZAC Parade, the Australian War Memorial, Old and New Parliament House.
The location is a hotspot for keen photographers with an abundance of native birds and wildlife. The most common marsupials in the reserve are the Eastern Grey Kangaroo, the Swamp Wallaby and the Ringtail Possum. The popular trail starts adjacent to the Australian War Memorial. Treat yourself with a coffee and cake after your walk at Poppy's cafe.

Visit one of Canberra's best kept secrets - Brindabella Hills Winery
Brindabella Hills vineyard and winery is situated 25km north of Canberra on a ridge above the Murrumbidgee River, with beautiful mountain ranges to the west. A steep drop to the Murrumbidgee River 100 metres below the vineyard gives good air drainage, ensuring frost protection.
New owner Michael Anderson and partner Renae Kilmister took over the vineyard and winery in 2017 and have most recently decked out out a sleek new cellar door, which is currently under the management of a very attentive and knowledgeable Cellar Door Manager.
Tables are available across the weekends, however bookings are essential. Opening hours for the Vineyard Café are from 11am - 4pm on both Saturdays and Sundays. Visit the Brindabella Hills website for more details.
