Fashion & Costume Week

National Film and Sound Archive
To celebrate Starstruck: Australian Movie Portraits at the National Portrait Gallery in conjunction with The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA), the NFSA is holding a series of events throughout summer. Fashion & Costume Week will feature screenings and special events that fashion and film lovers of all ages will enjoy.
Hands on History
8 to 27 January
Australian War Memorial
The Australian War Memorial is a must-visit location for your next trip to Canberra. Plus, this January kids have the chance to have a hands-on look into the life and work for our service men and women. This special school holiday program running is free of charge throughout most of January.

Patrick White Lawns
Enjoy the summer weather and some of the best new releases and favourite films. Take the kids to see Golden Globe nominated animated feature Ferdinand or see everyone’s favourite bear in Paddington 2.
Alice in Wonderland
14 January
Canberra Theatre Centre
Escape reality and free fall down the rabbit hole into this iconic story. This New York production combines puppetry with beautiful sets and costumes and has received rave reviews. Perfect for the whole family, go on an adventure with Alice for two shows only on the 14th of January.
Summer Cricket
24 January & 2 February
Manuka Oval
This summer, enjoy the spectacle of Twenty20 cricket with both men’s and women’s Big Bash League playing on January 24. International Twenty20 is also coming to Canberra as the future of Australian cricket take on England at Manuka Oval. This short form version of cricket is perfect for the whole family with high excitement on the pitch and in the entertainment.

Based off the book by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton, the whole family will enjoy this mad cap story. You will meet an angry ducks, spy cows and a gibbon on the latest instalment of this live stage event.
Australia Day Fireworks Spectacular
26 January
Various Locations
Celebrate Australia Day in Canberra. Start the day with a sausage sizzle at the ActewAGL Great Aussie Day Breakfast plus enjoy entertainment and kids activities. Later in the afternoon, take your celebrations to the concert at Regatta Point or family activities at Patrick White Lawns. Then at 9pm, see the day off with a bang and watch the fireworks over Lake Burley Griffin.

West End, Broadway and now Canberra – experience the show that has entertained audiences across the world. A musical adaptation of the picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, follow Mouse into the deep dark wood.
